2010 Ride of Silence

Published on 5/19/2010
The Ride of Silence, an international event held annually to honor fallen cyclists and bring attention to bicycle safety, was held in again in Greenville on May 19, 2010. More than 90 cyclists gathered in the downtown Bicycle Post parking lot to support bicycling in our community. With traffic control and support from the Greenville Police Department, the group traveled silently through some of the busiest streets in Greenville demonstrating that cyclists have rights to ride our roads safely.  Local cyclists varied in interests, ranged in age from 7 to 74, and all types of bikes were involved.

The event garnered media attention from some of the local TV stations and was covered by the Daily Reflector.   EC Velo continues to do this event annually as part of our efforts to reach out to all members of our community who wish to ride their bicycles safely.
