So is this cool or not? Need opinions...
Chris Smith
Some of you guys are going to laugh at me, but I have to ask a question. Is it cycling fashion faux pas or a "no-no" to wear team uniforms, especially in the same year they are being worn by the pros? I really like the 2009 Saxo Bank uniforms, and wanted to buy a jersey and matching bibs, but needed to clear up whether this is cool or not? Don't say "who cares what someone else thinks." I just need to know whether this is considered a "no-no" in the cycling world.

Depends on who you talk with. Plenty of people see me in my bright pink T-Mobile jersey, I had bought a Garmin jersey that came in too small and I also have a Discovery jersey. So of course, I don't think it's bad. But I'm sure some cyclists think it's not cool.

Why is it some cyclists have a problem with it? I couldn't tell you because I wouldn't hang out with them. Seems to me cycling may be the only sport that has this problem. Go to your local b-ball court and you'll see plenty of collegiate/pro team jerseys. Same thing for football and baseball.

I'm seriously considering shelling out the coin for the Cervelo test team jersey--best jersey ever. See you on the next ride. JB

Interesting...you're right. I never thought about that. That just made my decision...more or less.

Of course...it would be nice to have some good looking ECVelo bibs and jerseys....any idea when the designs will be available for viewing???

The design will be ready by the end of the week. JB

Sorry to be late to the party, but I thought I would include my 2c worth.  Overall I can't really see that it is a blanket "no-no" I mean how would they sell all those team kits in the catalogs if no one wanted to wear them?  I also am a big proponent of "who cares what others think" and "show them with your legs" or "let me introduce you to thunder and lightning" ;).  Anyways, back on topic... you should wear what you like.  The only real complaint I have heard is more with the US or World Champion jerseys as these are awarded/worn for race finishes, not for team affiliation or sponsors.  That I might have to agree with, maybe it would be like wearing some kind of replica Superbowl ring or something.  That sort of crosses the line...
